2009/2010 Season.
Dear All
Sunday was a great day for the Whole Under 8's squad.
The B team at T wells were the runner up; Crowborough vs Cobham 8 – 7Crowbroough vs Cranbrook 4 – 5Crowborough vs Ols E 7 -3 (semi)Crowborough 2 – 6 in the final
This is a great result from the lads especially after last weekend, they should be very proud of themselves. Also thanks to Neal and Brandon for organizing them on the day.,
The A team dominated every game they played including the final against Lewes, scoring 41 tries and only conceding 12. The results were, Crowborough vs Stanford 8 – 3, Crowborough vs Haywards Heath 10 – 4, Crowborough vs Eastbourne 7 - 1, Crowborough vs Uckfeild 9 - 2 and in the final Crowborough beat Lewes 7 -2.
These results were excellent and I could not have asked any more of the boys, they showed why they are Country Champions and I received a lot of complements about the way the played. Thanks to Shaun for helping me on the day. This is a great way to end the season. The whole under 8 team is clearly the most successful squad that exists at the club with the following success's;
Hastings Festival , Joint winners - 11th October 2009,
East Sussex County Championship - Winners - 14th March 2010,
Crowborough `B` Festival - Winners - 28th March 2010,
Sussex County Championships Final - Winners - 11th April 2010,
Tunbridge Wells `B` Festival - Runners Up - 25th April 2010,
Uckfield Festival - Winners - 25th April 2010.
Once again we have only achieved this level of success through the commitment of the boys, coaches and you guys; thank you very much. So next season we will be the team people want to join or beat!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Crowborough RFC Under 8’s Crowned Sussex Champions
On Sunday 11th April, the annual Sussex Rugby Finals took place between the East (Crowborough) and West Sussex (Chichester) County Champions at Pulborough RFC.
The under 8 section was represented by Crowborough and Chichester, the current Sussex Champions, and kicked off at 11.05. As you would expect at this level the game was being played by two very well drilled and disciplined sides. The first half witnessed some excellent free flowing rugby and ended 4 all. The second half was a very different story, Crowborough were devastating in defence causing Chichester to make many errors that were then converted into possession and try scoring opportunities. The final score was 7 – 4 to Crowborough who are now the whole of Sussex Country Champions.
Stephen Hart, under 8 head coach and Chair of the Mini section for Crowborough, said “this is great result for the team who have worked so hard this year. It is also excellent for our club to be represented at this level, especially when you consider the size of Crowborough when compared to Brighton etc” . Stephen also said” it has been a very long time since the club won this title and it is a reflection of the commitment, team work , dedication to rugby, each other and the club shown by the Under 8 players and coaches.
The Under 8’s have been very successful this year winning four festivals including the Crowborough B Festival just before Easter. Stephen said “ it is a privilege to be working with such a remarkable group children, coaches and parents and I believe that our success comes from this combination”.
The team on the day was, Reubin Hart, Rafael Singleton, Scott Robinson, Samuel Ayres, Jake Reet-O’Neil, Jack Kingham, Samuel Marchesi, Hayden Tibbals, Henry Martin and Daniel Young.

Sunday 28th March 2010 - Crowborough `B` Festival @ Home.
The Under 8 B team did a great job on Sunday at our `B` festival. They were the reigning champions and had a lot to live up to. They played some great Rugby and were the winners again. Along the way they beat Cranbrook 6 – 5 and thus were also the winners of the Cran vs Crow Cup which we play for every time we meet.
Great job boys!!!

Sunday 14th March 2010 - East Sussex Festival Hosted by Eastbourne RFC.
Dear All
Firstly a big thank you to all the parents who turned up at both the Club and Eastbourne on Sunday, particularly the Mums! I have been told by Neal that the following lads turned up for training on Sunday at the Club; Jack Hurst, Freddie, Robbie Tom & Jake. Well done lads, I have been told you trained with the Under 9 and Under 11’s and had loads of fun as well as a good training session. Also thanks to Neal for organizing this.
The other lads were away at the East Sussex Festival and just in case you do not know, or believe it etc, THEY WON: and not a toss of a coin in sight!! The results were as follows; They beat East Grinstead 4 – 0 (2 tries to Scott and 2 to Reubin)They beat Uckfield 4 – 0 (2 tries to Reubin, 1 to Jack K and 1 to Harry)They beat Heathfield in the semi-final 5 – 2 (3 to Jack K, 1 to Reubin and 1 to Sammy)And they beat Brighton in the final 4 – 3 (3 tries to Reubin, one form our own tri line up the whole length of the pitch, and 1 from Scott) Reubin was Man of the tournament. The guys were devastating in attack and very sound in defense and that frustrated both Heathfield and Brighton and we took advantage of that. The support given by Non Furry, Dan, Sam E, Hayden and Raff was instrumental in tagging, attacking and supporting. This is an amazing result when you consider the size of our club, we do punch higher than our weight at times. I would also like to thank Shaun for his support, advice and guidance during the festival. I know we are so proud of the boys who truly deserved to win a competition at this level as they are a cracking team and have been knocked out at this level before by a toss of a coin.

Sunday 13th December - Away at Hove RFC.
Hove only had 10 active players. Because we only had 5-a-side and Hove didn't have a clear A and B we mixed up the teams a little.
Team 1: Reuben (captain), Sam Eyres, Hayden, Scott & DanWon 16-4 (approx. kinda lost count) with several disallowed.

Sunday 22nd November 2009 - Home - Against Tunbridge Wells.
The Under 8’s had a good result against Tunbridge Wells on Sunday. The A team ran in 16 tries and only conceded 2; this was an excellent result as the Coach's were not on the pitch to guide them, they did all this on their own.
Our B team also won with a clear margin of 3 tries.
The weather condition's were challenging - very wet and muddy but the lads did us proud again.

Match update on Hastings Festival - 11th October 2009 - Under 8's
What can I say, this Sunday all the boys were fantastic. It was a TRI FEST with the following results.
We won our pool with easy wins over Cranbrook (6-2), Lewes (6-2), Hove (6-2) and East Grinstead (7-1) In the East Grinstead game the team played some of the best Rugby I have seen bringing an unbeaten team to their knees. In the final we came up against a very talented Heathfield team and the final score was 4 all. We decided to share the win but we had to toss a coin for the trophies as Hastings only had enough for one team. Unfortunately we lost the toss (again). Tris were scored by Reubin (11), Sammy (8), Non Furry (3), Rafael (3), Scott (2), Sam (1) and Jack K (1). There was great support from all the other team members (Jack H, Hayden, Furry, Harry and Dan) especially the Subs who were always ready to come on and play at a high standard. So off to a great start again with a win! I would also like to thank all the parents whose support make the coaching team job so much more fun and effective.
Thanks Steve
