Have you got a son or daughter with so much energy that you really have no idea how to wear them out? Do you like the idea of them participating in a sport that encourages team work, respect and discipline? Would you like your child to join a growing group of players from schools in and surrounding Crowborough who have fast become great set friends? If you have answered yes to any or all of the above then rugby is the game and the Under 8’s will welcome you to join their squad!
During last season, we had a fantastic set of results, narrowly losing out in the final of the East Sussex Cup and winning the last two festivals of the year at Westcombe Park and Uckfield. We are lucky enough to have a very talented set of players but we are always on the lookout for any new recruits regardless of size, shape, speed and skill. As coaches we will do our best to bring out the best in your children – developing the skills that they already possess and hopefully adding some new ones as well. This year we have some extra coaches and helpers (myself, David, Ian, Jonathan, Gareth and Morten) all of whom have players in this seasons Under 8’s and we hope that with a few additional players we will be able to run two teams this season.
Our training sessions will be fun and varied building and developing the core rugby skills whilst also working on fitness, bringing in some set moves and also getting them ready for moving from this seasons TAG rugby to the Under 9’s when it becomes full contact. We train from 10 until 12 every Sunday; these coaching sessions will be intermixed with games and festivals with other local clubs. Our first training session will be on Sunday 5th of September and a list of fixtures can be found on the website. If you are not sure if rugby is something your children will enjoy please just bring them along on the 5th and give it a try – remember Lawrence Dallaglio didn’t take up the game until he was 13 so 7 is certainly not too late!
Hope to see you there on the 5th at 10.00
Regards Andrew, David, Ian, Jonathan, Gareth & Morten
