I am proud and delighted to have been invited to coach the Crowborough Colts this coming season. Just to make it clear Colts means both under eighteen and under seventeen rugby players. Both age groups have specific team targets for the season. The first being the under seventeen County Cup competition intermingled with the under eighteen County league and under eighteen County Cup competition. But to be clear we are one.
After last years success in the B league we now have the challenge of the A league. My targets are:
1) to improve individual rugby skills and level of ability;
2) to take the team to their highest possible standard; A league championship is the pinnacle. We have a fine group of support couches and administrators with many offers of help ranging from coaching expertise, financial assistance and general support. The player’s commitment is to fitness, practice and the team. This means attending training, matches and social functions of the team.
Finally, and possibly the most important, is to commit to the highest standards of behaviour and play.
High standards apply not only to the players but to all who are part of the team including coaches, administrators and supporters. Abuse of referees, opponents or their supporters is not acceptable. We will follow the Crowborough tradition and morals welcoming all guests as friends.
I look forward to the hard work of training, playing and post play and most of all to ensuring we “The Colts” our supporters and the Club really enjoy our rugby.
