Message from the Chairman
Welcome to you all for the coming 09/10 Rugby season, which we start in excellent shape the 1st team squad has trained throughout the summer and their coach, Nick Oldham has worked hard at raising skills levels all round, and with the appointment of Matt Botterman as team Captain we are aiming for a top 2 finish in the London SE 3 league.The 2’s and 3’s squads have both strengthened and there will be keen competition for places between all 3 senior teams driven for the first time by each team in the seniors having dedicated coaching support. The Colts, Juniors and Minis are well organised at every age group and continue to represent the club with great distinction all over the south east, we have almost 300 players from U6’s to U18’s….
Off the field of play great progress has been made in developing the grounds and our plans for the new clubhouse are looking encouraging. The drainage works, started last year, have continued and this has resulted in our pitches looking as good now as they have ever been.
Our ambition is to build a new club house during the close season next year and demolish the existing one. Much work is going on at the moment, preparing applications for grants and loans, and our own fundraising is adding, steadily, to the total of around £200,000 that we believe we need to raise as our contribution to the total sum of £550,000.
The Club now has a more structured and balanced feel both on and off the field of play and is proving once again to be a Rugby Club of outstanding spirit where the qualities of inclusion, friendship, fun and community are second to none where we are expecting an extremely successful year both on and off the pitch.
Most importantly High standards apply not only to the players but to all of those who are part of the Club including Coaches, Administrators , Members and Supporters. We will continue to follow the Crowborough tradition of welcoming all Guests as Friends, showing the utmost respect to all Match Officials, and Visiting Players and their Supporters.
